The fee for a Certificate of Citizenship for your adopted children increases from $600 to $1000 on December 23, 2016.
For those who lost your certificate of citizenship, please apply for the N565 before the fee also increases on December 23rd.
It is very important that your child adopted internationally have their Certificate of Citizenship! It is the only permanent proof of citizenship available to them.
Families whose childrens’s adoptions were not finalized in their country of birth must apply for a Certificate of Citizenship once the adoption is finalized in the United States. Additionally, if your child was adopted before February 27, 2001 you will also need to apply for the Certificate of Citizenship.
Please locate your child’s Certificate of Citizenship and keep it in a safe place. This is an extremely important document for them throughout their lives.
